this is halloween

Today is the day! I’ve been eagerly anticipating Halloween all month; in order to get the most out of the holiday, I decorated my apartment weeks ago and have been adding little touches here and there to keep myself excited. Here are a few glimpses of my Halloween home:

Nothing extravagant by any means; this is my first year decorating my own home for the holiday, so I don’t have many permanent items yet. I purchased both the leaf garland (which will stay up through Thanksgiving) and the vintage-inspired Halloween owl from talented Etsy sellers papernotebook and HouseyHome, respectively.

I’ve also been watching and reading horror over the past few weeks. Last night, my boyfriend and I sat next to each other on the couch reading our Halloween picks (Swamp Thing for him, Hannibal for me). After our reading session, we watched 1970’s horror classic, “The Omen,” which I picked up at Goodwill for a dollar this past week.

And now I’m listening to the Halloween party Pandora station! I really love holidays; they give me the chance to do something special and out of the ordinary, and I love themes. Share your favorite part of the holiday in comments, and have a Happy Halloween!

LOVE what you did to your apartment! I usually don’t decorate for Halloween as I have yet to figure out how to leave things on the classier side. Your decor looks festive and tasteful, very nice!

Thank you so much! Festive and tasteful was exactly what I was going for. And I can keep a lot of it up as general “Fall” decor too, so I get more mileage out of it. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

I love your owl sign. I have a small, black, glittered tree that I put Shiny Brite Halloween ornaments on and a few small halloween rugs from Target. What I really lack is non-Halloween fall decor that can stay up awhile longer!

Gourds, pumpkins, and fall leaf-themed things are all really good versatile decorations! And cheap too. I still have mine out but I have to admit I’m getting antsy to change to Christmas decor already…and I used to be one of those people who hated how early everyone brought out the Christmas stuff!

I wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving to put up Christmas decor, but Thanksgiving is late this year. I just don’t think I can do it. It’d be less than four weeks to enjoy the tree!
