autumn in bloom

I find that most people cite the changing leaves as one of the most beautiful aspects of the fall season. Of course, having lived in New England, I would agree that the reds, oranges, and yellows are breathtaking. But I think that the flowers that bloom during this time can be just as lovely. I frequently drive on a somewhat rural road here in Raleigh and the past few days I’ve been tempted to pull over and stop to take some photographs of a beautiful little gully with the most arresting purple and yellow wildflowers growing there. Well, today I actually did it, and I’m so happy I did.

What a perfect way to start off the month of October!
